Now this is exactly what I call an instant gratification jewelry project. There are those projects we slave over and get really creative with, and there are those that we can whip up in literally just a few minutes, and they still look great. These adorable earrings fall into the “whip them up in minutes” category. With Valentine’s day coming up, these are a cute little gift that are easy to give. Maybe you have a lot of sisters or a group of coworkers you want to show some handmade love to for Valentine’s, but don’t feel like you have the time in your busy schedule to make everyone something….You can easily whip up multiple pairs of these in no time at all!
I used the large vine briolette bails made by TierraCast with the hearts. These are very popular to use with briolettes obviously, but they can be handy for so many other crystal shapes, and the large bails work perfectly with the 12mm Wild Hearts. Just give the briolette bails a squeeze with your fingers, and then very gently use your pliers to squeeze a bit and bend the ends down so they lay nicely and gently hug the crystal. If you have a pair of nylon jaw pliers, I highly recommend using those to pinch the bail down on the crystal. This will eliminate your chances of maring the metal or scratching your crystal. Once you are happy with how your bail is set onto/into the crystal, just attach it to your earwire with a small jump ring, and presto! You are done!
The wild hearts and the bails are available in several different finishes, and your options for earwires are nearly endless, so you have the option of making these in so many different color ways and varied styles. If you want a longer earring, try using a pretty connector between the ear wire and the heart, or perhaps a short length of chain.
