Father’s Day Leather Bracelets

Father’s Day is just around the corner and if your dad is anything like mine, he is hard to shop for. I wanted to share with you what I made for my dad last year… a simple leather bracelet.

Now, my dad does not wear any jewelry, so it was a bit risky in terms of a gift ūüôā And, it turns out that I was right… because it was made by me, he loves it and wears it now and again when he goes out.¬†Not only that, he has gotten a lot of compliments on it!

Here are a few other designs I came up with in honor of Father’s Day that have a little bit more to them…

And these, if you want something plain and simple…

Almost all of these all have magnetic clasps so they are really easy to put on and take off. They are also super fast and easy to make. All you need besides the leather and chosen components is some super new glue (and possibly a leather cord straight cutter).

My father has an average sized wrist so I cut the leather to 8″ and it fits perfect.

Materials to make each bracelet are listed below the picture:

Basic Directions:

  1. Cut the leather to the desired length (if it is not already).
  2. If using any components, put them on the bracelet.
  3. Detach one end of the clasp from the other so you have two pieces and decide how you want it to go on the bracelet.
  4. Hold one end of the leather upright, put on enough super new glue to cover the entire end of the leather without it starting to drip down the sides. Insert the leather with the glue into one side of the clasp. Hold them together, firmly, for about 30 seconds. Repeat on other end.
  5. Some people only let these cure for about 15 minutes. I like to wait a couple of hours, or overnight, just to be on the safe side.

*Note:

On the design with the letters, if you don’t want the letters to slide around there are two things you can do:

  • Put a dab of glue on the inside of the bracelet underneath each letter to hold them in place (you might consider wearing gloves for this part). Handle it the same as the basic directions for the glue: hold the letter on the glue firmly for 30 seconds and let dry.
  • Alternately, use some of the Rubber O-Rings on the ends of the letters to hold them in place.

And, as always, there are so many ways that these can be mixed and matched based on your taste and color preferences to make it your own!

Have Fun!

Robyn.
