We played with Alcohol Inks and Lucite beads today, and got some great results with little time and effort. Here’s a quick recap:
Assorted White Lucite Beads
Alcohol Inks, lighter colors best
Cup or jar of water
baby wipes for clean up and Blending Solution
I like to set out 3 or 4 colors that coordinate, I used Pastel shades for a more watercolor look. So, used Peach Bellini, Cloudy Blue, Sandal, and Juniper. I laid out a small puddle of each color on my silicone sheet and with the brush randomly dipped in to a color and brushed it on the white lucite flowers, from both the inside and the outside, in strips, randomly applying color till it was what I wanted.
These necklaces are more than Vintaj components put together, they are the coordinates of the first kiss my fiancee and I shared. We were outside after our first date, my 30th birthday, under the moonlight and stars… It really could not have been more idyllic! The image is forever burned in my memory and now… Continue reading His and Hers “First Kiss” Necklaces
I can hardly believe its been ten years but then when I start looking back, I can see and feel it more. Thinking back about all the people who have worked with me, some still in my life and in the shop, some friends that have remained close, and some who have gone on to… Continue reading Happy Birthday to Us!
These earrings remind me of being in my mom’s garden as a young child, and eating pea pods straight off the vine. It was the only way I could ever be convinced to eat my vegetables. Now, a mom myself, I wear these in my garden while picking peas with my daughter. The use of… Continue reading Peas In a Pod Earrings | DIY Tutorial

You can wrap them, let them hang freely, pair them with a scarf (or multiple scarves!), or just wear them alone as a statement piece. For this necklace, I used two Vintaj leaf pieces and and ran them… Continue reading Leather & Leaves Wrap Necklace | DIY Tutorial
Here at Bello Modo, we’ve been trying to think of fun, new, and creative ways to use the huge array of supplies we have in stock. Jewelry is the obvious answer, but we like to think a little out of the box. The sun has been out, the birds have been chirping, and that’s got… Continue reading Vintaj and Patina Birdhouses | DIY Tutorial
Vintaj Natural Brass is one of my most favorite components to work with. They are the original, and still the best patina brass components on the market in terms of quality and patina. They just came out with a new introduction of some cool components, including 1″ Paddle Headpins, very cool! I sat and played… Continue reading Focus on Vintaj Natural Brass
Sometimes necklace, bracelets, and earrings get all the glory. When I see a beautiful component, how to make it into a ring isn’t usually my first thought. But after my bug-loving friend pointed out how well these Vintaj cicadas fit along her finger, I’m going to try to keep my mind more open. I promised I’d… Continue reading Burnished Cicada Ring | DIY Tutorial
I was wandering the aisles of the shop, petting beads (as one does), when I came across an item I’d never seen before: these raw crystal points. They are gorgeous! I love all stones, but there’s something especially wonderful about working with the jagged and organic shapes of unpolished crystal. Because we’re focusing on Vintaj this week,… Continue reading Raw Crystal Hanger Necklace
